Road Trip 08

My friend Tara and I just arrived in Florida after a week long road trip across the country. I met her in Vegas and we drove from there through New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, and finally, Florida. It was a lot of fun! We got to see lots of countryside, and the further east we traveled, the more I smiled. You see, there are actually grass and trees in the eastern states of America! =) We also were able to visit some cities along the way. We went to The Blue Man Group and saw the lighted fountains at the Bellagio in Vegas. We visited The Big Texan restaurant in Amarillo, TX. We drove through Tropical Storm (previously Hurricane) Ike in Arkansas - a little scary, but we made it. We stopped and saw some family friends in Memphis. We walked around Music Mile and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. We stayed with my friend Emily and her parents in Chattanooga, and saw the downtown area there. We also drove up to Blairsville in Georgia and saw Tara's relatives there. It was beautiful, every part of it, and I will never forget it. I took lots of pictures and have lots of memories.  A few funny lessons learned from the trip:
  1.  Always read the directions and check out a map before starting on the road, or else you might drive an hour out of the way and end up in California!
  2. There are different time zones, and you will enter them if you drive cross country. (We found ourselves arriving late to everything!)
  3. When there aren't any restrooms for miles, a CB stop will always work - just make sure to feed the friendly dog there a cookie - but not chocolate chip ones because dogs aren't supposed to eat chocolate. Oops!
  4. Charge your cell phone.
  5. Colplay's Viva la Vida will always make you happy!
  6. Always check the bathroom when you enter a hotel room. Yikes.
  7. Georgia mountain roads do not always have street signs, which can help you to get lost, but the locals are always happy to give directions.
  8. You can make a good friend out of a squirrel in the park.
  9. Coffee is the liquid of life!
  10. Florida is sooo long!
